The AGB’s Collection
Bruce Crane, A Summer Night, late 19th - early 20th century, Oil on canvas.
The Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art cares for over 3900 works of art that are divided into two distinct categories. The Permanent Collection consists of works formally accessioned into the museum’s collection and includes the collecting areas of American Painting & Sculpture, Photography, Drawings & Prints, Global Art, and Decorative Art & Design. The Asset Collection is a combination of works specifically donated to Florida Southern College and works that do not meet the criteria for the AGB’s Permanent Collection, but still offer educational and artistic value. Works in the Asset Collection are exhibited at the museum and on the Florida Southern College campus, an initiative to further engage students and faculty with art and visual culture.
The cataloging and online publication of the AGB’s Collection is an ongoing initiative. The data included with each work reflects information found in the museum’s permanent files and research files. Curatorial staff continue to review, update, and expand the information about each work of art. Information and inquiries about The AGB’s Collection can be emailed to the Curator of Collections at hculligan@flsouthern.edu.
