Internships
College students looking to gain hands-on, real-world work experience may apply for an upaid internship at The AGB. Internships are typically served in the following areas: Curatorial/Collections, Membership, Education, and Visitor Services.

Curatorial interns should have an interest or background in art, art history, or museum studies. Opportunities in the Curatorial Department include assisting with exhibition research, exhibition installations/deinstallations, and exhibition programming. The Curatorial Department also offers opportunities to work with the Museum’s permanent collection conducting inventories, cataloging, and data entry/database management. Interns must indicate in their application which area of Curatorial interests them the most.
Membership interns should have an interest in art or non-profit administration. Administrative experience may vary from data entry, filing, and proofreading to correspondence management, communications and event management. Education interns are flexible, creative individuals who are interested in how art museums function as spaces for learning and community connection. The position offers hands-on experience within the education department, providing insight into program planning, facilitation, and behind-the-scenes museum operations related to tours, classes, student exhibitions, public programs, and events. It is well suited for students eager to gain practical experience, strengthen communication skills, and contribute to a welcoming, creative learning environment.
The ideal Visitor Experience and Retail intern applicant is friendly and eager to engage with visitors while maintaining strong organizational and customer service skills. They should be comfortable with basic math, data entry, and multitasking, while bringing enthusiasm for museums. Creativity is a must, as the position requires contributing to effective visual merchandising, developing exhibition related product concepts, and supporting innovative approaches to visitor engagement.
