This 6-lesson class will introduce students to classical and historical painting through the study of master artists Van Gogh and Caravaggio. Students will explore composition, light, and technique while creating painted detail studies inspired by selected masterworks.
Each lesson includes a brief historical introduction to provide context for the artist, style, and time period. Through guided observation and hands-on practice, students will develop a deeper understanding of how great artists constructed powerful and expressive images.

Simoni Limeira-Bonadies is an award-winning Visual Arts Educator who recently received her doctorate in History with Distinction from the Universidade Aberta de Portugal. Simoni is from Brazil where she started as a college professor teaching Art History and Juridical Philosophy. Since 2007, she’s taught Visual Arts in Pinellas County and in Polk County Public Schools - winning Teacher of the Year in 2016 and Florida Middle School Art Educator of the Year in 2021. Since teaching in the US, the work of her students has been shown at The Dali Museum, Cape Canaveral, The Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art (previously Polk Museum of the Art), Fine Arts Festivals, and others. Also an artist herself, Simoni has been published through National Geographic and has won numerous local awards.

Any registrations submitted after the registration deadline includes a $35 late fee.
REFUNDS
All refund requests must be submitted in writing and will incur a $35 handling fee. If a class or workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be available. If a class or workshop is not cancelled and refund is requested, a reimbursement will be made in full up to seven days prior to the class or workshop starting date. No reimbursement will be made after the seven-day period.
