Led by Dr. Erica Bernheim, Professor of English at Florida Southern College, this program will explore Dehn’s close friendship with poet E. E. Cummings. Discover the connections between literature and visual art and consider how humor, social observation, and shared creative circles shaped the work of both artists.

About the Speaker

Dr. Erica Bernheim is a Professor of English at Florida Southern College, where she is also the faculty advisor for Cantilevers Undergraduate Journal. She earned her BA from Miami University, her MFA from the University of Iowa, and her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago. Her favorite writers include Robert Creeley, Elizabeth Bishop, William Faulkner, Frederick Seidel, James Dickey, Barbara Gowdy, Kazuo Ishiguro, Katherine Dunn, and Lynda Barry. Her first full-length poetry collection, The Mimic Sea, was published by 42 Miles Press at Indiana University South Bend in 2012.
