How to Move Christ’s Tomb to Florence, c. 1600

Join us Thursday, January 29 at 6 pm for the inaugural Distinguished Lecture Series, featuring Victoria Addona, PhD.

Dr. Victoria Addona is an editor at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and a specialist of early modern Italian architecture, with a focus on granducale Tuscany. She received her PhD from Harvard University in 2020 and held postdoctoral fellowships at McGill University and Université de Montréal. Victoria has published widely on infrastructural management, architectural professionalization, ornament, and landscape. Her first book in preparation, Almost Supernatural: Architecture and the Conquest of Nature in Granducal Tuscany, explores how early modern Florentine architects reshaped a cultural imaginary of nature as a domain that could be conquered by technological intervention.
