Discover the fascinating and unexpected connections between two of the twentieth century’s most iconic artists, Alberto Giacometti and Salvador Dalí. This engaging program explores their parallel beginnings in Switzerland and Spain, their creative encounters and collaborations within the vibrant world of Parisian Surrealism, and the surprising similarities that emerge in their later work—despite their radically different styles.
DISTINGUISHED LECTURER BIO
Dr. William Jeffett is Senior Curator at The Dalí Museum. He earned his doctorate from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, and also holds degrees from Oxford University, Yale University, and the University of Texas.
Prior to joining The Dalí Museum, Dr. Jeffett served as Curator at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia (UK). An active researcher and prolific scholar, he has published numerous exhibition catalogues and articles devoted to Salvador Dalí, related artists, and contemporary art.
Dr. Jeffett has curated many exhibitions for The Dalí Museum, including Yamandú Canosa: The Visit (2022) and Picasso and the Allure of the South (2022). He has also organized major exhibitions for leading international institutions, including the Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona), Fundació “La Caixa” (Madrid), and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (Madrid). In collaboration with Dawn Adès, he co-curated Dalí and Duchamp for The Dalí Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Most recently, he curated The Subversive Eye: Surrealist and Experimental Photography from the David Raymond Collection (2024).
