In this 6-week, hands-on-class, participants will explore the full craft of picture book writing - from story structure and character arc to language, wordplay, voice, genre and formatting. Attendees will also work on building critiquing skills. Additionally, current options for publishing will be discussed. Writers will bring their story ideas to class and discover how to make them shine.

Students only need to bring a notebook and their favorite writing tool.

Judy Cooper is author of the children’s picture book, God’s Wonder-Filled World: The Story of Creation. Her earlier short story, The Candy Monster, was featured in a Make‑A‑Wish Foundation anthology. She is a Rising Kite Award recipient from the Florida region of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Judy serves as a docent at the AGB, where she brings art and wonder to young students.
